Cristina María Torres Malinow's path to Liga MX Femenil ran through college soccer in the United States and loan spells on two continents. Playing for Puerto Rico Sol, with whom she won back-to-back Liga PR titles in 2018/19 and 2019/20, she was loaned out to EC Bastia in France in 2020 and to Detroit City FC in the UWS the following year, before enrolling at St. Bonaventure University, where she earned Atlantic 10 First Team honours.

She turned professional in Mexico in December 2022, joining Mazatlán FC, for whom she made 41 appearances and scored four goals in Liga MX Femenil. A brief spell with Alianza FC in El Salvador followed in 2024 before she signed for Pumas UNAM that August. She has gone on to make 53 appearances and score three goals for the club.

Torres made her senior debut for Puerto Rico in a friendly against Argentina in August 2018, opening her international account with a goal against the same opposition the following month, in a 1-1 draw. She added another in a 2-1 defeat to Bolivia in June 2019, and by May 2020 had six caps and four goals for the national team.
