Linus Yarete

Linus Järeteg's contract with AIK runs until 31 December 2029. For a midfielder who has only just moved into the club's senior squad, that is a long commitment, and it says something about how AIK see the next few years.

His full name is Erik Linus Mikael Järeteg, though the club and the game know him by his middle name. He has spent his development inside AIK. He came through the academy in Stockholm, played for the U19 side and then for the U21 side, and from there joined the senior squad. The teams before that step are all AIK's own, and no transfer fee was involved along the way.

That route is the core of his story so far. It is a progression through one club's age groups, each level a step up from the last, rather than a series of moves between clubs. Each promotion also meant a new set of team-mates and a higher standard of opposition.

Järeteg also plays for Sweden at youth international level, so his development is being followed by the national federation as well as by AIK. The call-ups place him among the country's younger players, and the club has now secured him for the long term.

His senior career is only beginning, and the contract gives it room to grow.
