About the player
Romário Baró spent a long stretch of his career inside FC Porto's system. He arrived from Sporting CP in 2014 and left in 2025. Born in Bissau, he started out at União Atlético Povoense and later passed through Sporting's academy. At Porto he won the UEFA Youth League in 2018–19, and his first-team appearances began in 2019.
The honours that came with Porto are numerous: the Primeira Liga in 2019–20, the Taça de Portugal in 2019–20 and 2023–24, and the Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira in 2020 and 2024. In 2021 he also won a silver medal with Portugal at the UEFA European Under-21 Championship.
Regular football came through loans. He went to Estoril Praia in 2021–22 and to Casa Pia in 2022–23. The third loan was the biggest: in 2024 FC Basel paid €150,000 for him, with a further €350,000 in variables. Basel won the Swiss Super League and the Swiss Cup in 2024–25.
He is a right-footed midfielder who is used mainly as a defensive midfielder, though he also plays in central midfield. In 2025 he left Porto on a free transfer and signed for Radomiak Radom, his first club in Poland.
