Hansa Rostock II

Hansa Rostock II last topped a table in 2011–12, when it won the NOFV-Oberliga Nord and went up to the Regionalliga Nordost — the fourth tier. It did not last: the first team's relegation in 2010 had already pulled the reserves down with it once, and the same pattern repeated in 2024, a year after the side had fought its way back up.

The team traces back to 28 December 1965, the day Hansa Rostock's footballers broke away from the multi-sport club SC Empor Rostock and formed their own club; the reserve side was set up in the same move and spent its first season in the Bezirksliga Rostock. Under the GDR it won that regional league three times, in 1966–67, 1983–84 and 1986–87, and played two spells in the DDR-Liga, the East German second tier, the longer one running from 1967 to 1975. After reunification it added the Landesliga Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in 1991–92 and the Verbandsliga title in 1995–96.

Felix Kroos wore the shirt between 2008 and 2010. Jens Dowe passed through a season earlier, in 1987–88, and went on to win East Germany's last-ever championship with the first team.

Games are played at the Volksstadion, which holds around 5,000. The 2024–25 season ended in 16th place in the Oberliga Nordost's northern group and a drop back into the Verbandsliga Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, where Hansa II starts 2025–26 under new head coach Christian Tiffert, who replaced Uwe Speidel over the summer.
