Morris Elite

Morris Elite began in 2016 as a youth organisation set up by Vincenzo Bernardo, a former professional player. It joined the USL Academy League in June 2020, and a year later it entered adult competition.

In 2021 the men's side went into USL League Two, the fourth tier of the American pyramid, and the women's side into the USL W League. The academy supplied the first of its own players almost at once: Will Bugliari became the first Morris Elite academy graduate promoted to the League Two squad, in May 2021. Danny Szetela, a former U.S. national team player with three caps and a 2008 Olympian, joined for that debut season, and so did the Belize international midfielder Nana Mensah.

The women have won more than the men. They took the Metropolitan Division in 2022 and again in 2023, reached the W League national quarter-finals both years, and in 2023 went on to the Eastern Conference final. The men have not yet won a League Two division title.

Home games are played at Frederick Douglass Field on the Rutgers University campus in Newark. The club has also tied its academy to the New York Cosmos, who play in USL League One, and in 2025/26 it became their official youth affiliate.

The rivalry the club talks about is a local one. Its first League Two match was against FC Motown, and Bernardo called it a "derby match" because Madison and Fairwood sit so close together. New Jersey Copa FC and Cedar Stars Rush, the other Metropolitan Division sides nearby, are the opponents that come next in the same conversation.
