Pikine

Stade Alassane Djigo holds 10,000 people, rebuilt in 2017 with a synthetic pitch replacing the old grass. That resurfacing came at a low point: AS Pikine had just dropped out of Ligue 1.

The club now carrying that name traces back to Niayes-Pikine, formed in 1921 in the suburb of Pikine, though the modern AS Pikine dates its own founding to 1970.

Promotion from Ligue 2 in 2009 was followed by the Coupe de la Ligue in 2011, beating Yakaar 2–1, and then a season, 2014, that brought the Ligue 1 title, the Coupe de Sénégal and the Trophée des Champions all in one year. After eliminating Étoile Filante de Ouagadougou in the preliminary round, AS Pikine lost to USM Algiers in the first round proper. A year later, a 13th-place finish sent them back down to Ligue 2.

Matches against Guédiawaye FC carry their own weight in the suburb, known locally as le derby de la banlieue dakaroise.

None of AS Pikine's current squad has been capped for the national team.
