Sousense

The Estádio 1º de Dezembro holds two thousand and takes its name from the date the club was founded: 1 December 1937, in the parish of Jancido, Foz de Sousa, within the municipality of Gondomar. Ground and club share a birthday, which is as much history as the district game usually leaves behind.

For most of that history Sousense stayed within Porto's district competitions, the level below national football, and the 2009–10 season marked the first time the club reached the III Divisão nationally: the AF Porto Honra Division title took them there. A runners-up finish in the 2014–15 Campeonato Nacional de Seniores brought them to the promotion play-offs without the title itself. Eight years in the district leagues followed before the 2024–25 Liga Pro AF Porto title sent them back into the Campeonato de Portugal, the fourth tier.

The derby that matters locally is against Gondomar Sport Clube, the other side from the same municipality; Gens Sport Clube is the other name that comes up in that context. A youth match against Gondomar turned violent at one point, and the club condemned it publicly rather than let the incident pass unremarked.

The player the club points to is Jota Silva, who came through the Sousense academy before moving on to Vitória de Guimarães.
