Match report

Japan beat Venezuela 2:1 in a friendly international on Sunday evening. The result extends their unbeaten run to five matches following the draw with Sweden earlier this summer.

K. Kelsy opened the scoring for the visitors in the 46th minute, catching Japan off guard just after the break. To be fair, Venezuela had been threatening throughout the first half, creating four big chances compared to Japan's three. The away side pressed high up the pitch and forced Japan into some uncomfortable moments.

By then, A. Ueda had turned the game. He scored in the 49th minute and then added a penalty in the 90th minute plus six. Things came to a head late on when the referee pointed to the spot after Venezuela's goalkeeper was booked for a foul in the area. Ueda stepped up and didn't miss.
