Edson Alejandro Tortolero Toro

Edson Tortolero is the son of Edson Argenis Tortolero and grew up in Valencia, in the football academy run by Juan Arango. That family connection has followed him through his career, his development instead ran through Venezuela's under-17 side.

His first move abroad came early. After a spell at Deportivo JBL del Zulia, Tortolero joined the reserve team of Slovakia's MŠK Žilina in 2016, spending a year in European football before returning home. He then settled at Carabobo FC, with two separate spells either side of a stint at Deportivo Táchira.

It was at Táchira, in 2021, that he collected his first league title, part of the squad that won the Venezuelan championship. He later added a second, with Carabobo, when the club took the Torneo Clausura in 2025. That success also opened the door abroad again: Carabobo agreed a loan move sending him to Colombia's América de Cali.

Tortolero has built his career on the wing rather than through the middle. His path has been steady rather than headline-grabbing — academy football in Valencia, a brief European detour, and a return to Venezuelan football that yielded two league titles with two different clubs.
