A reserve side barely has time to make enemies, and Sporting Jacksonville II has none on record yet — the opponents it has faced so far, sides such as The Villages, Inter Gainesville, Brooke House, Shark Coast and Nona, belong to a first season rather than a rivalry. What the team carries instead is its parent club's identity, stamped on before a ball was kicked.

Sporting Club Jacksonville built its structure the way bigger American ownership groups have started to: a men's side in the USL Championship, a women's side in the USL Super League, and reserve teams feeding both from below. The plan surfaced publicly in March 2025, when the Ponte Vedra Recorder reported the expansion, though the parent club itself had already been unveiled in December 2023.

The colours came later and deliberately. In May 2025, working with Adidas under a multi-year kit partnership, the club settled on light blue for its home shirt, a shade it calls Ocean Blue, with orange accents, and gray for the change kit — a reference to the St Johns River that also gave the first team its nicknames, the Whales and Ocean Blue.

Jacksonville's senior team plays at Hodges Stadium on the University of North Florida campus, but the II side has not settled into a fixed home of its own, turning out instead at grounds around the city as the fixture list demands.
