Tishreen

In Latakia, three clubs share a city and a grudge, and the fixtures against Hutteen and Tadamon are still called the Latakia City Derby regardless of where either side sits in the table. Tishreen carries the weight in that rivalry: Hutteen ranks as the city's second club, Tadamon its third, and both now meet Tishreen at the Latakia Municipal Stadium, which Tishreen shares with Hutteen and once shared with Tadamon as well.

The club's own history runs through two mergers before the name Tishreen existed. Al-Jalaa, the first club officially registered in Latakia, was founded in 1947. It merged with Al-Hurriya and Al-Liwaa in 1971 to become Al-Qadisiya, which in turn merged with Al-Nahda in 1977 to form Tishreen. The club still dates itself to 1947, treating Al-Jalaa as its origin rather than its predecessor.

The 1981–82 side that won the league is still spoken of as the "Golden Team," a label that never attached itself to any of Tishreen's four later championships. Mouaffak Kanaan scored 14 goals in 1984–85 and followed it with 16 the next season, taking the league's top-scorer title both years. Domestic cups came later and thinner: a Syrian Super Cup in 1982 against Al-Ittihad, then a long wait until 2023, when Tishreen beat Al-Wahda 1-0 to take its first Syrian Cup, against five runner-up finishes stretching back to 1973.

The stadium itself changed name before the club did anything to earn it: built for the 1987 Mediterranean Games and known for decades as Al-Assad Stadium, it was renamed Latakia Municipal Stadium after the fall of the Assad government in 2024.

Five league titles sit alongside a single Syrian Cup — a lopsided return for a club nicknamed both the Eagles and the Sailors.
