Treaty United Women

Markets Field sits in Limerick, and it is where Treaty United Women play most weeks, though for one season the club moved out to Jackman Park before coming back in 2022. The switch and return say something about a club still finding its feet: this is not an institution with a fixed home so much as one working out where it belongs.

The team itself dates only to 2020, formed after the city's previous women's side, Limerick W.F.C., collapsed financially. Playing in blue, white and red.

There is no silverware yet. What the club has instead are two near-misses in the FAI Women's Cup, five years apart: a semi-final defeat to Cork City in 2020, the club's first season, and another semi-final in 2025, this time drawn against Bohemians. Neither run ended in a final, but reaching that stage twice, in a side's opening year and again a season into a different decade, suggests the collapse of the old club did not leave as deep a hole as it might have.

For now, Treaty United's story is told more in Limerick than anywhere else — a team that exists because a city's women's football would otherwise have gone quiet.
