Vanuatu Women

The women's team took the field for the first time on 30 June 2003, against Tonga at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori, Fiji, part of that year's South Pacific Games. It lost 3–2, then beat Kiribati 11–0 in the same tournament — still the biggest win in the team's history. After the Games, the side did not play another international match for roughly seven years, resurfacing only for the 2010 OFC Women's Championship.

That gap set the pattern. Vanuatu has since appeared at the OFC Women's Nations Cup in 2010, 2022 and 2025, reaching the group stage each time without advancing further. The heaviest defeat in the team's record came in that first 2010 tournament, a 14–0 loss to New Zealand. Neither the FIFA Women's World Cup nor the Olympic Games has featured a Vanuatu women's team.

Home fixtures are played at Freshwater Stadium, capacity 6,500, the ground also used for the men's 2024 OFC Nations Cup matches. The kit sets the women's side apart from the men's team, who wear yellow and black: the women play in emerald green, with red and yellow hibiscus flowers echoing the national flag.

Vanuatu has also sent a women's football team to the Pacific Games, in 2003, and the Pacific Mini Games, in 2017 and 2025, without a medal to show for it. The federation that governs the team, the Vanuatu Football Federation, was founded in 1934 and joined FIFA in 1988 — 65 years before the women's side played its first match.
