The 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup qualification represents a structural shift for European football. UEFA has established a standalone, dedicated qualifying tournament for this cycle, marking the first time the confederation has separated the World Cup path from the continental championship finals. Previously, the UEFA Women's European Championship finals served as the de facto qualifier. This new format sits within the broader UEFA Women's Nations League structure for the 2025–26 season, which replaced the previous Euro-centric model.

The tournament involves all 53 UEFA member associations and operates through two distinct phases. The League Phase divides teams into three leagues based on rankings. League A contains four groups of four teams. The four group winners in League A secure direct qualification for the World Cup. The remaining teams from League A, along with winners and runners-up from League B, and winners from League C, progress to the Play-off Phase. This knockout stage consists of two rounds of home-and-away ties. The seven best-ranked winners of the second round earn direct World Cup places. The lowest-ranked winner enters the FIFA inter-confederation play-offs. In total, this provides eleven direct qualification spots for UEFA plus one inter-confederation opportunity.

Promotion and relegation run concurrently within the Nations League structure. Group winners in League C are automatically promoted to League B. Group winners in League B move up to League A. Conversely, fourth-placed teams in League A are relegated to League B, while fourth-placed teams in League B drop to League C. Third-placed teams in League A play play-off ties against runners-up in League B. The best-ranked third-placed teams in League B contest similar matches against the best-ranked runners-up in League C to determine final movement between tiers. This integration distinguishes the World Cup qualification from the Euro 2025 process, where top two teams in League A groups qualified for the European finals rather than solely the group winners.
