West Virginia Alliance

In 2014 a side called West Virginia Chaos won the South Atlantic Division of the Premier Development League (PDL), then went on to the Eastern Conference Finals.

Chaos was the name from the start in 2003, when the club was set up in Charleston. In 2018 the club became West Virginia Alliance FC, and in 2021 it changed again to West Virginia United. The division title of 2014 belongs to the first of them.

The league changed as well. The PDL became USL League Two, and the club now plays there. Home used to be Schoenbaum Stadium in Charleston. It is now the Trace Fork Soccer Complex in South Charleston, a 6,000-capacity ground.

Illal Osumanu is the one who went further. He played for the club in 2017 and again in 2019, so he was there on either side of the switch to the Alliance name. He then turned professional with Union Omaha and later with Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC. He is a Ghanaian international.
