Minneapolis City

Edor Nelson Field sits on the Augsburg University campus, and it is where Minneapolis City has stayed rather than following its MLS sister side, Minnesota United, to the much larger Allianz Field. Supporters known as the Citizens gather beforehand at Murphy Square Park.

The club grew out of Stegman's Soccer Club, with planning starting in late 2015 under chairman Dan Hoedeman before the team took the field in 2016. It settled in USL League Two after stints in the National Premier Soccer League and the Premier League of America, and picked up its nickname, the Crows, from supporters.

Silverware has followed in stretches: three NPSL North Conference titles between 2018 and 2021, an NPSL regular-season championship in 2021, and back-to-back USL League Two Heartland Division crowns in 2025 and 2026. In 2025 the first team also beat Duluth FC to win the Minnesota Super Cup. The bigger stage came in 2022, when a nationally televised U.S. Open Cup match against Des Moines Menace slipped away 4-2 after Minneapolis City had clawed level at 2-2.

That equaliser belonged to Loïc Mesanvi, who scored nine goals in ten league appearances the same year before Minnesota United's reserve side signed him.
