About the player
Danilo joined Ajax from Brazil in September 2017 and had a loan to FC Twente in the 2020–21 season: 33 league appearances and 17 goals in a single campaign. He made 20 first-team appearances in four years at Ajax, though he did pick up an Eredivisie title in 2021–22 with Jong Ajax's parent club.
A free transfer to Feyenoord in July 2022 proved the more productive move. Danilo scored 14 goals across 48 appearances in his first season in Rotterdam and won the Eredivisie title in 2022–23.
Rangers signed him in July 2023 on a five-year contract. He has won the Scottish League Cup twice with the club, in 2023–24 and again in 2024–25, when he scored a late equaliser against Dundee in the final. In February 2026 he was loaned to NEC Nijmegen for the rest of that season, and by August 2026 he had moved on loan to Botafogo, a deal that carries a conditional obligation to buy.
Danilo has represented Brazil at under-23 level, capped once in 2020, but has not featured for the senior national side.
