About the player
Coritiba paid a release clause of R$ 1.25 million to sign Jacy from Operário Ferroviário in May 2025. The centre-back's route there was long: he started out in the Athletico Paranaense academy and made his senior debut in February 2017, but four appearances in the Campeonato Paranaense and a place in the under-23 squad were as far as it went at that stage, even as Athletico won the state title around him.
What followed was a run of loans and modest moves that took him from Criciúma to Capivariano, then abroad to ViOn Zlaté Moravce and FK Pohronie in Slovakia, before spells at Pouso Alegre, Rio Branco-SP, São José-PR, Desportivo Brasil, FC Cascavel and Paysandu. He joined Operário Ferroviário as a free agent in 2024.
At Coritiba he added another honour almost immediately, winning the Campeonato Brasileiro Série B in 2025. In a Série A match against Chapecoense, Jacy scored in the 41st minute and celebrated by leaping over the advertising hoardings to greet his pregnant wife in the stands, only to fall into an open tunnel trapdoor and injure his ankle. The goal itself was chalked off by VAR for offside, though Coritiba went on to win the match 2–1.
