About the player
Juan Carlos Gauto grew up in Perito Moreno, in Santa Cruz, before joining Huracán's academy in 2015. He made his debut for the first team against Tigre and scored his first professional goal against Barracas Central.
Basel sent him out on loan to Deportivo de La Coruña for the 2024-25 season, where he made 15 appearances in the Segunda División plus one in the Copa del Rey without scoring or assisting, before returning to Switzerland at the end of the loan. In January 2026 he moved again, this time to Platense in Argentina's Primera División on a free loan with a purchase option.
Gauto has also worn Argentina's colours at youth level, collecting eight caps and two goals for the under-20s. He was part of the squad at the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup on home soil, playing three matches and scoring once before Argentina went out in the round of 16 to Nigeria.
