AEK Larnaca

In the 2012–13 final, AEK Larnaca stood across the court from APOEL and beat them to a first Cypriot Basketball Division A title. That merger, in 1994, brought together EPA Larnaca and Pezoporikos Larnaca, the latter carrying four championships won under its own name and the green-and-yellow colours, along with the emblem of Admiral Kimon, that AEK still wears. The years after the merger gave no hint of what was coming: the club dropped out of the top division twice, in 2002 and again in 2006, and had to win the second-tier title both times, in 2004–05 and 2006–07, to climb back.

The 2012–13 breakthrough turned out to be the start rather than a one-off. Under Linos Gavriel, who took over in 2015, AEK retained the championship in successive seasons and pushed into the Round of 32 of the newly created FIBA Europe Cup in 2016–17. Further titles followed in 2017–18, 2020–21, 2022–23 and 2024–25, built in part around the Slovenian centre Primož Brezec.

Home games are played at the Kition Athletic Center, in front of 3,000 spectators. The club has taken to calling itself Petrolina AEK Larnaca under its sponsorship deal, though "The Green Yellows" remains the name supporters use. No fixture matters more than the one against Keravnos Strovolou: the two have met in the final in 2016–17, 2022–23, 2023–24 and 2024–25.
