Büyükçekmece Basketbol

Away from home in the Basketbol Süper Ligi, Büyükçekmece's sharpest edge is local: matches with Bahçeşehir Koleji get called an İstanbul derbisi in the press simply because both sides come from the same city, and the games against Darüşşafaka and Beşiktaş have carried a harder weight whenever relegation was on the table. None of that rivalry has a formal name.

The club has worn several names before this one, moving with whichever sponsor backed it — Tüyap, Demir İnşaat, Arel Üniversitesi, and now ONVO — and people just use the sponsor name of the day.

Promotion arrived after the TB3L title in 2012–13, and two seasons later, playing as Tüyap Büyükçekmece, the club finished runner-up in the TB2L, losing out to Yeşilgiresun Belediyespor. League restructuring pushed them up anyway, into the top flight. The Basketbol Süper Ligi title has stayed out of reach, as has the Turkish Cup.

Squads have leaned on imports rather than academy names — Michael Roll, Erving Walker, Antywane Robinson, Predrag Samardžiski, Erik Murphy all wore the shirt at different points.

Home games are played in front of 2,500 at the Gazanfer Bilge Spor Salonu, blue and white the only constant through all the name changes. It was there, in 2011, that a district on the edge of Istanbul got a professional basketball club of its own.
