Caledonia Gladiators

David Sloan stood over the ball with the final seconds bleeding away in the 2022–23 BBL Trophy final, and put it through the net at the buzzer to beat the Cheshire Phoenix 73–70.

That name change traces back to August 2022, when Steve and Alison Timoney, through Caledonia Basketball Holdings Ltd, bought the franchise and rebranded it the Caledonia Gladiators. The club had already been through several identities by then: founded in 1998 as the Edinburgh Rocks, playing out of the Meadowbank Arena before a 2002 move to Glasgow as the Scottish Rocks, then renamed the Glasgow Rocks in 2009. In October 2023 the team relocated again, this time to the Playsport Arena in East Kilbride, a 1,800-seat venue in South Lanarkshire.

The earliest silverware belongs to a different era and a different name. As the Scottish Rocks, the club won the BBL Play-off Championship in 2002–03, beating the Brighton Bears 83–76, with Shawn Myers named MVP of the final.

The women's side, established in 2016 as Caledonia Pride, added its own piece of history in 2024, winning the Super League Basketball Trophy with a 61–59 win over the Oaklands Wolves. On the continental stage, the men's team took part in the 2023–24 FIBA Europe Cup, finishing third in their group with three wins from six games, including a result over Anwil Włocławek.
