The BBL Cup was a domestic basketball competition in Great Britain, organized by the British Basketball League (BBL). Founded in 2003, it served as the league's primary mid-season domestic cup following a dispute with the English Basketball Association (EBBA). The tournament was contested exclusively by members of the top-tier British Basketball League and was distinct from the BBL Trophy.
The competition followed a single-game knockout format with byes for some teams if the number of entrants was uneven. The final was traditionally held in early January at Arena Birmingham. The most successful club in the competition's history is the Newcastle Eagles, who won the trophy six times. Their victories came in the 2005–06, 2011–12, 2014–15, 2015–16, 2016–17, and 2020–21 seasons. The last holder of the BBL Cup was the London Lions, who defeated the Leicester Riders 79–71 in the 2022–23 season. That edition was the final one before the BBL organization collapsed.
The BBL ceased operations in July 2024 due to financial difficulties and the termination of its license by the national governing body, British Basketball. It was replaced by the Super League Basketball (SLB), a new top-tier league owned by its nine constituent clubs. The SLB launched new competitions for the 2024–25 season: the SLB Cup and the SLB Trophy. While media sometimes colloquially refers to the new SLB Cup as the "BBL Cup," it is a distinct entity. The SLB Cup for 2024–25 features a group stage format followed by knockouts and includes invited teams from lower tiers. The BBL Cup, as originally conceived, is defunct.
