EHC Kloten

Four championships came in a row for EHC Kloten between 1993 and 1996, following an earlier title in 1967. The Swiss Cup took much longer to arrive: not until 2017, when the club beat Genève-Servette HC for its first success in that competition.

The club traces back to December 1934, when seven members led by Emil Hegner formed it; promotion to the top flight followed in 1947, and Kloten stayed there almost without interruption once the National League took its modern shape in 1962 — 56 consecutive seasons among the elite before relegation finally caught up with the club in 2018.

That drop did not last. Kloten won the Swiss League, the second tier, in 2022 and returned to the top division the same year. Along the way the club carried the Kloten Flyers name officially from 2000 to 2016, a period that overlapped with some of the runners-up finishes — 2009, 2011, 2014 — that came without a further title.

The roster over the decades has included players who moved on to the NHL, among them Rod Brind'Amour, Olli Jokinen and Jeff Halpern, alongside Swiss internationals such as Steve Kellenberger.

Having re-established itself in the National League since 2022, the club is now focused on staying there.
