Mateo Retegui opened the scoring in the fifth minute before Abdoulaye Seck equalised for the away side just seven minutes later. And here's the thing about that period — Al-Qadisiyah's response came through Mohammed Abu Al Shamat in the thirtieth minute, and by then the momentum had shifted. The visitors thought they had something to celebrate when Mohammed Al Shanqiti was shown a yellow card in the sixteenth minute, but the midfielder's own goal in the fifty-sixth minute put the hosts up 3-1.
Al-Faisaly made their first change in the fifty-eighth minute when Abdulelah Subayt came on, but they had nothing to do for the remainder of the contest. Al-Qadisiyah brought on Retegui in the eightieth minute, and the visitors made three changes between the seventy-fourth and eighty-second minutes as they tried to find a way back into the game. Mousab Zaid Al-Juwayr was the final substitution for the hosts, bringing up the ninetieth minute.
The statistics tell their own story. Al-Qadisiyah dominated possession at 57 per cent and created six big chances compared to the visitors' one. They registered nine shots on target with an expected goals figure of 2.46, while Al-Faisaly managed only two shots on target and an xG of 0.71. The visitors' goalkeeper Fernando Pacheco made seven saves, but his side simply could not convert their limited opportunities.
The result extends Al-Qadisiyah's mixed form — they had won three of their previous four league games before this victory. Al-Faisaly's campaign continues to struggle, with three defeats and a single draw from four matches leaving them rooted to the bottom of the standings.
