Al-Qadisiya moved up to third in the Pro League with a convincing 3-1 victory over Ash-Shabab at the Al-Shabab Club Stadium on Wednesday evening. The hosts had started the campaign without a win and looked increasingly exposed as the visitors imposed their rhythm. It was the sort of result that shifted the table, if only by a fraction.
H. Al Hammami gave the home side the lead at the fifteen-minute mark, a moment that felt fleeting from the start. To be fair, Ash-Shabab had their chances early, but the visitors absorbed pressure and struck back before the break. M. Abu Al Shamat found the net just after thirty-six minutes, and the momentum began to tilt.
Al-Qadisiya's approach was patient rather than frantic, and they worked the channels with increasing confidence. By then the visitors had created more big chances than the hosts combined, and the quality of their build-up play showed through. The substitution pattern around the hour mark hinted at a side comfortable enough to manage the game.
The second half belonged to the visitors in every sense. J. Quinones added a third at eighty minutes, and T. Al Ammar completed the scoring with two goals in the closing stages. Ash-Shabab fought back with urgency, but the wheels came off too quickly for any meaningful recovery.
The statistics told the story. Al-Qadisiya controlled 55 per cent of possession and registered six shots on target against two for the hosts. They created six big chances to three, and their expected goals total of 3.31 reflected the quality of opportunities they generated. Many shots with one goal means chances went begging for the home side.
The result leaves Ash-Shabab rooted at fifteenth with three points from five games, while Al-Qadisiya sit third on twelve points. The gap between them is now nine, and the visitors cannot afford another slip if they are to maintain their position.
