Baranovichi and Dynamo Brest Share Points in Even Contest
Baranovichi and Dynamo Brest played out a 1:1 draw in the Premier League on Saturday evening. The result leaves the home side in 11th place with 22 points after 21 games, while Dynamo Brest remain sixth on 31 points. Denis Kovalevich opened the scoring for the visitors before Maksym Shevchenko equalised for Baranovichi. To be fair, neither side dominated the contest in any sustained period.
Kovalevich found the net in the 29th minute, giving Dynamo Brest the lead they would defend for most of the match. Shevchenko responded for the hosts in the 62nd minute, and by then the game had settled into a rhythm neither side could break. There were substitutions around the hour mark, with Artem Petrenko coming on for Baranovichi and Denis Kovalevich replaced in the 58th minute. The visitors worked a short corner in the 67th minute but could not turn possession into a second goal.
Yellow cards appeared at intervals throughout the second half. Kirill Glushchenkov was booked for Dynamo Brest in the 56th minute, while Nikolay Ryabykh received a caution for the hosts in the 69th minute. Egor Kortsov added to the visitors' tally in the 86th minute, and there was an unnamed booking in the 85th minute. The incident went to review in one case, but no red cards were shown despite the growing tension.
Baranovichi had 43 per cent possession but managed six shots on target, compared to five for Dynamo Brest. The visitors earned eight corners to the hosts' two, suggesting they pressed higher up the pitch. Shots accuracy was 46 per cent for Baranovichi and 36 per cent for Dynamo Brest, though that price has gone given the equal scoreline. Many shots with one goal each means chances went begging for both sides.
The result extends Baranovichi's recent run of mixed results. They drew 2:2 with BATÉ on 9 August and lost 0:2 to MCK-Dnepr on 19 August, while Dynamo Brest have shown more consistency with wins against Torpedo Zhodino and Belshina. The table gap of nine points remains unchanged, and that gap is what matters on a day when neither side could find a winner. The hosts held on grimly after the equaliser, and the visitors dug in when they needed to.
