Detchic moved clear at the top of the First League with a 2:0 win at Buducnost Podgorica on Saturday evening. The visitors took all three points in a match where they controlled the tempo without dominating possession, and the result leaves them seven points ahead of their nearest challengers.
M. Djokaj opened the scoring in the thirtieth minute, finishing a move that stretched the Buducnost back line before the hosts could regroup. The away side worked a short corner to build the attack, and the ball found Djokaj in space outside the penalty area. He struck cleanly, and the goal shifted the momentum of the opening half.
Buducnost had their chances but could not convert them. They registered one shot on target against four for the visitors, and the disparity in finishing quality proved decisive. M. Gjolaj and P. Vujovic picked up yellow cards in the first half as the home side pushed for an equaliser, but the Detchic defence held firm.
The second goal arrived in the sixty-ninth minute, and this time the visitors took advantage of a Buducnost error. The home side's substitution of Z. Mugosa in the thirty-eighth minute did little to change the pattern of play, and Detchic continued to probe for openings. A yellow card in the seventy-fifth minute marked the end of a tense phase, but the score remained unchanged.
The statistics told a familiar story. Buducnost controlled 54 per cent of possession but only managed four shots on target, while Detchic were clinical with four on target from their limited opportunities. The visitors created more danger despite having fewer attacks overall, and their efficiency in front of goal was the difference.
The result extends Detchic's lead at the summit of the First League to seven points after seven matches. Buducnost remain in ninth place with five points from six games, and the gap between the two sides continues to widen. The visitors have kept two clean sheets on the spin, and their defensive solidity is showing in the table.
