Jiska Domažlice cruise past Komarov in Cup Round of 128
Jiska Domažlice saw off Komarov 6-3 in the Cup Round of 128 on Tuesday, progressing to the next stage with a comfortable victory. The visitors were the better side from start to finish, and here's the thing — they never really looked like losing their advantage. Komarov had their moments, but they simply couldn't match the quality on show against the away side.
The first half produced three goals, with Komarov taking an early lead through Jahn before Demeter equalised for the visitors. Kratky restored the home side's advantage just before the break, and by then the match had settled into a pattern we'd seen before — Komarov pressing, Jiska looking dangerous on the counter. The visitors came out of the interval with more purpose.
What changed was the away side's approach. Kucera pulled them level within minutes of the restart, and from there Jiska started to take control. Kapolka put them ahead, Lukavsky extended the lead, and Klimes made it four before Zajicek's late double sealed the result. Things came to a head in the final ten minutes, and Komarov had nothing to do all evening after that point.
Statistics tell the story of a one-sided affair. Jiska enjoyed 58 per cent possession and registered 11 shots on target compared to Komarov's four, while the visitors also recorded more attacks and throw-ins. The home side managed 100 attacks to 124, but the difference in quality showed in the conversion rate. Komarov had more corners and free kicks, but those numbers mean little when you're chasing a game.
