Llaneros drew 1-1 with Deportes Tolima in the fifth round of the Clausura phase of Primera A on Sunday at Estadio Belo Horizonte. The result leaves the hosts in 14th place with 22 points and keeps Tolima sixth on 31.
Ospina opened the scoring in the 18th minute, but Tolima responded quickly. Guzman equalised two minutes later before missing a penalty in the same period. Aguayo restored Llaneros' lead in the 65th minute, though Tolima held firm for a point.
By then the statistics told a different story. Tolima registered 2.27 expected goals against 0.92 for the hosts, and hit the target eight times to Llaneros' two. The visitors created four big chances while the hosts managed only one. To be fair, the shot accuracy figures were stark — Tolima converted 47 per cent of shots on target, Llaneros 13.
Both sides made five substitutions, with Llaneros bringing on Miranda and Castaneda together in the 70th minute. The hosts saw three yellow cards — Rincón, Ramirez and Sanchez — while Tolima received one from their midfielder. Neither side had a player sent off.
We had backed Llaneros to win, but the match refused to follow that script. The visitors' dominance in possession — 53 per cent — and their ability to create opportunities meant the hosts could not hold their advantage. That price has gone, and now both teams move on.
