MCCK-Dnepr beat Borac Banja Luka 2:1 after extra time in the third qualifying round of the UEFA Conference League on Wednesday evening. The visitors had won the first leg 1:0 at home on 6 August, so the aggregate score now stands at 2:1 in favour of the Ukrainian side. D. Cleonise and A. Kontsevoy were on target for MCCK-Dnepr, while M. Deket pulled one back for Borac in the 103rd minute.
Cleonise broke the deadlock just before the half-time whistle in the 45th minute. Borac had their chances but failed to capitalise, and MCCK-Dnepr held their lead into extra time. Deket equalised early in the second period, and the match looked set for penalties before Kontsevoy struck in the 120th minute to seal it.
There were plenty of bookings throughout. Aleksandar Mesarović and Valeriy Bocherov were cautioned in the first half, and by the final whistle Borac had four yellow cards to MCCK-Dnepr's two. The game grew increasingly physical as extra time wore on, with Nemanja Jakšić and Damir Hrelja picking up cards late on.
MCCK-Dnepr kept more possession at 53 per cent and had the sharper eye in front of goal. They registered six shots on target compared to Borac's four, though accuracy was comparable at 40 per cent versus 36 per cent. Both sides won four corners, but MCCK-Dnepr blocked five attempts while Borac managed only one.
The result evens the tie on aggregate at 2:2, and MCCK-Dnepr will travel to Banja Luka knowing they have one foot in the next round. Borac lost their first leg advantage, and the pressure now shifts to their home leg. They have a chance to overturn the deficit, but they must be more clinical than they were here.
