Paks claimed a narrow away victory against league leaders Puskás Akadémia in the fourth round of Hungary's NB I, winning 3-2 at the stadium on Saturday. The result ended Puskás' perfect start to the season and left them still top but with a two-point cushion over their visitors. Dániel Lukács opened the scoring from the penalty spot early on, but Paks responded through József Szalai and Palkó Dárdai before a second-half shift turned the game.
Lukács gave the hosts the lead in the seventh minute, converting from the spot after a challenge in the box. Szalai levelled in the thirtieth, and Dárdai restored Puskás' advantage before the break. Paks came out with fresh legs after double substitutions on the hour mark, and Windecker's strike in the fifty-ninth minute brought them level. Colley's late winner in the ninetieth minute sent the visitors into the break with three points.
Puskás dominated possession at 44 per cent but struggled to convert their chances. They registered five shots on target against seven big chances created, while Paks produced twenty key passes and created more opportunities. The hosts attempted thirty-five crosses but only five found their man, whereas Paks delivered forty with eight landing safely. Shots accuracy told the story — 36 per cent for Puskás compared to 24 per cent for the visitors.
The result keeps Puskás at the summit with twelve points from six matches, though their unbeaten run has finally been halted. Paks move up to seventh place on eight points, still four behind the top four. Both managers will take something from the encounter — Puskás from their dominance, Paks from their efficiency when it mattered.
