The name most people outside Hungary learned in May 2024 belonged to nobody in particular — it was the badge. Paks beat Ferencváros 2:0 in the MOL Magyar Kupa final. A year later they kept it, this time on penalties.

The club grew out of a works sports association in a Danube town of no great size, founded on 28 November 1952 as Paksi Sportegyesület. What changed the place was the power station. Hungary's only nuclear plant sits at Paks, and the nickname followed from it: Atomcsapat — the Nuclear Team. Green and white have been the colours throughout.

Home is the Fehérvári úti Stadion, which holds a little over 6,000. That figure matters more than it looks. It means the second-place finishes — 2010/11, then again in 2023/24 — were managed by a club whose entire ground would fit inside a corner of the Groupama Aréna. The 2023/24 season was the double near-miss: runners-up in NB I, winners of the cup.
