Debreceni VSC

Balázs Dzsudzsák grew up through the Debrecen academy and stayed long enough to become captain, Hungary international, the man on the pitch when Debreceni VSC reached the group stage of the Champions League. Built on a spell few Hungarian sides have matched — five league titles in a row, from 2005 to 2010. Six Hungarian Cups came alongside them, along with five Super Cups and a single League Cup, in 2010.

The club traces back to 12 March 1902, though it has rarely kept one name for long: Egyetértés Football Club at first, then decades as Debreceni Vasutas under its railway-workers' backing, a brief run as Debreceni Lokomotív, a spell as Debreceni Törekvés, a sponsor-driven stint as DVSC-Epona in the 1990s, before settling on Debreceni VSC in 2002.

Tibor Dombi holds the appearance record, with more than 430 matches in red and white. Tamás Sándor was voted the club's greatest player by its own supporters in 2022. In Champions League qualifying against Lyon, it was Adamo Coulibaly who scored the goals that sent Debrecen through. Since 2014 the team has played at the Nagyerdei Stadion, holding 20,340 seats.
