VfL Wolfsburg drew 4-4 with Energie Cottbus in the second Bundesliga, Regular Season round four at the Volkswagen Arena on Saturday. The hosts had led twice through Robert Glatzel's double before Cottbus fought back to level the score. Eight goals in total made for an open afternoon, with neither side able to claim victory despite creating chances.
Glatzel opened the scoring with a penalty in the fourth minute, and Costa added a second before half-time. Cottbus responded through Erlein just before the break, then Manu equalised early in the second period. Cigerci restored Wolfsburg's lead with another spot-kick, only for Svanberg to extend the advantage before Bogdanov's late strike completed the comeback.
Wolfsburg controlled possession at 51%, but Cottbus edged the shot count with nine attempts on target compared to seven. The visitors also won more corners, nine to four, and completed 303 passes against the hosts' 320. Wolfsburg's goalkeeper made five saves while Cottbus's keeper managed three, suggesting both sides faced meaningful opportunities throughout.
The result keeps Wolfsburg fourth on eight points from four games, still unbeaten in the league. Cottbus remain in eleventh place with four points after one win, one draw and two defeats. The hosts had won their previous fixture 5-2 against Karlsruhe, while Cottbus lost 3-4 at Greuther Furth last weekend.
