Alexandru Maxim

Alexandru Maxim left his hometown club as a teenager in 2021 to join FCSB's academy, and five years later he returned to Universitatea Craiova, the club that first developed him at its CSS Craiova academy. The move came after FCSB opted against registering a new long-term contract with him, leaving him a free agent.

At FCSB he remained largely a youth-team goalkeeper, making a handful of appearances for the under-19 side, and the club sent him out on loan to build experience elsewhere. At Voluntari, in Liga II, he became a regular between the posts and was part of the squad that won promotion. A short loan at Satu Mare followed, where he featured in end-of-season play-off matches in the third tier.

His return to Craiova was sealed with a three-year contract that includes an option for a further two seasons, agreed without a transfer fee.

Maxim has worked his way through Romania's youth set-ups, from the under-18s through to the under-19s and under-20s, generally as part of the squad rather than a fixed starter. He was named among the reserve goalkeepers for the under-18s at a four-nations tournament, turned out for the under-19s at a friendly tournament in Denmark, and was included in the under-19 squad for the elite round of European qualifying without playing in those matches. He was later called up to the under-20s for Elite League fixtures against Poland and Switzerland, named as one of three goalkeepers in the squad but again without a competitive appearance.
