About the player
Amine Amgar signed his first professional contract with MVV Maastricht in July 2024 at the age of 15, a deal running until June 2027 and a rare step for a player still coming through the Maastricht academy. He had already caught the eye during pre-season that summer, scoring twice in a friendly against SV Geuldal.
Amgar had to wait until November 2025 for his official debut, sent on as a substitute in the 76th minute against Jong AZ in the Eerste Divisie. It remains his only appearance for the first team so far, with no goals or assists yet to his name in competitive football.
Internationally, the midfielder had a choice to make. The Netherlands invited him to a Under-17 "Future" training camp in September 2024, but Amgar opted instead to represent Morocco. He has since won six caps for the Morocco Under-17s and was part of the squad that lifted the 2025 Africa U-17 Cup of Nations, beating Mali in the final, though he did not feature in the tournament's matches.
A left-footed midfielder, Amgar remains a fringe figure at MVV for now.
