About the player
Stan Van Dessel joined MVV Maastricht from Lierse SK in the summer of 2024 on a free transfer, putting pen to paper on a three-year contract. He made his mark early, earning a place in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie Team of the Week after his starting debut for the Dutch club ended in a 2–2 draw against Top Oss.
Van Dessel came through the youth academy at Sint-Truiden, spending three years there before making his senior debut in August 2019. He went on to make 40 league appearances for the Belgian club without finding the net. A move to Lierse SK followed on a one-season deal, where he showed more of an attacking edge, scoring twice in 20 league outings.
Since arriving at MVV, the Belgian has grown into a regular fixture in midfield. He has made 40 league appearances for the club and scored 8 goals.
His contract at MVV runs until the summer of 2027.
