About the player
Bonifac Csonka came through the Hungarian academy system, moving between Puskás Akadémia and Fehérvár FC as a teenager before returning to Puskás Akadémia's youth ranks. His path to senior football went through a loan spell at Aqvital FC Csákvár, where he made three league appearances in the 2017/18 season while still tied to Puskás Akadémia II.
A move abroad followed in July 2019, when Csonka joined Romanian side FK Csikszereda Miercurea Ciuc. He spent two seasons there, making 22 league appearances without finding the net. Back in Hungary from July 2021, he signed for Győri ETO FC on a free transfer, before switching to Szombathelyi Haladás, also on a free, in February 2023.
At international level, Csonka represented Hungary at youth level, playing three times for the U17 side and scoring once during Euro U17 qualifying, then adding three further caps for the U19 team in Euro U19 qualification. He has not featured for the senior national team.
Across his senior club career, Csonka has made around 125 appearances and scored three goals. He has yet to add a major trophy or individual award to his career, built instead on steady progress through Hungarian and Romanian football before his move to Budapest Honvéd.
