About the player
Bruno Fabiano Alves's path to the top flight ran through five loan spells before he ever settled anywhere. After joining Figueirense's academy in 2010, he made his senior debut on loan at Portugal's G.D. Ribeirão in 2011, then spent the following seasons out at Metropolitano, Barretos, São José-SP and CRAC before returning to Figueirense and finally breaking into the Série A side in 2015. That patience paid off with two Campeonato Catarinense titles and back-to-back selections to the state championship's Best Team in 2016 and 2017.
The move that changed his career came off the pitch as much as on it: with Figueirense behind on wages, he left as a free agent in August 2017 to join São Paulo. He was named to the Campeonato Paulista Best Team in 2019 and the Campeonato Brasileiro Best Team the same year, before winning the Paulista title itself in 2021. On 26 May 2021 he scored what stood as São Paulo's 300th goal in the Copa Libertadores, against Sporting Cristal.
A loan to Grêmio for the 2022 season turned into a permanent free transfer in July 2023. He then moved to Cuiabá in January 2024, where he won the Campeonato Mato-Grossense, and on to Criciúma in March 2026.
He has no senior caps for Brazil, and is not to be confused with the earlier Bruno Alves who played for Porto.
