About the player
David von Ballmoos joined BSC Young Boys' academy in 2007, arriving from the youth ranks of Koppiger SV, and it took him until 2015 to reach the senior squad. That same year the club sent him out on loan to FC Winterthur in the Challenge League, a spell that ran to 2017. When he came back to Young Boys, he became a regular in the squad.
He won five Swiss Super League titles with Young Boys, in 2017–18, 2018–19, 2019–20, 2020–21 and 2022–23, and added two Swiss Cups, in 2019–20 and 2022–23. In 2020–21 he was named to the Super League's Team of the Year after leading the division in clean sheets.
In September 2025 he moved to FC Lugano on loan with an option to buy, and the following April the club exercised that option, tying him to a permanent contract until 2029.
