About the player
Driss Laaouina came through the FC Utrecht academy, progressing through the club's U17 and U19 sides before his promotion to Jong Utrecht for the 2025/2026 season. The move up carried no transfer fee, an internal step within the same club rather than a market deal, and he made his debut for the reserve side early in 2026.
Since then the left-back has settled into the Eerste Divisie, making around eight or nine appearances for Jong Utrecht by August 2026. The club tied him to a contract running to 30 June 2028.
Laaouina, who holds both Dutch and Moroccan citizenship, has also built a steady record at youth international level. He was capped by the Netherlands U15 side in April 2024, then spent from February to October 2025 with the U16s. By August 2025 he had moved up again, joining the Netherlands U17 squad.
