About the player
Elvis van der Laan grew up in Stockholm the son of a Swedish mother and a Dutch father from Groningen. He came through the Swedish youth pathway at IF Brommapojkarna before moving on to IFK Göteborg, picking up caps from under-15 through to under-19 level and a goal at under-17.
His move to AIK in early 2024 was the step that took him closer to senior football, first through the club's junior sides before a first-team debut in the Allsvenskan in April 2025 against IF Värnamo, where he started at centre-back.
The transfer fee was not made public as an exact figure, though AIK classified the deal in a band suggesting a net return of several million Swedish kronor, with the possibility of rising further depending on performance clauses and any future resale.
At Groningen he arrives as a right-footed defender still building his senior career. He has not yet featured for Sweden's senior side.
