About the player
Erko Jonne Tõugjas came through the youth ranks at Operi JK before joining FC Nõmme United, where he made his senior debut in 2019 and went on to make 53 appearances, scoring 5 goals. He joined Tallinna FC Flora in 2021, making 80 appearances and scoring 8 goals for the senior side over four seasons, alongside a spell in the U21 team. A loan to Tallinna JK Legion in 2022 gave him further first-team minutes, including a goal against Paide Linnameeskond that September.
At Flora, Tõugjas built a substantial honours list, winning the Meistriliiga in four consecutive seasons from 2021 to 2024 and the Estonian Supercup in 2021, having already picked up an Esiliiga B title in 2019. His performances for the club led to a call-up for the Estonian national team, for which he debuted in 2023 and has since earned 9 caps. He was also named to the Estonian Football Symbolic Team for the 2025 autumn season.
In late 2025 he left Flora for Halmstads BK, signing a contract running to the end of 2029. Club director Jesper Westerberg said the move required some "creativity" on the negotiating side, given Halmstads is not a club known for paying large transfer fees. The switch also made Tõugjas the first Estonian to play for the Swedish club.
