About the player
Fredrik Vangstad Sjølstad came through HamKam's youth ranks and made his senior debut for the club in 2011, staying until 2015. A move to Hødd followed in 2016, then Kongsvinger IL Toppfotball took him on in 2017 for two seasons. In January 2019, Molde FK signed him on a free transfer to a three-year contract.
Sjølstad remained at Molde into 2022 before leaving as a free agent and returning to HamKam, the club where his career began. He was handed the captaincy for the 2023 and 2024 seasons, making 24 and 23 Eliteserien appearances respectively, without adding to his goal tally in the league during that spell. In 2024 he extended his contract with HamKam through to 2027.
