Fernando Raúl Romero González

Fernando Romero came through the youth ranks at Nacional Asunción, making his professional debut for the club in May 2016 and scoring his first senior goal three months later. A loan spell followed at Guaireña FC in the 2020–2021 season, before he moved to Cerro Porteño in July 2021, where he won the Clausura title in his first season at the club.

In February 2023, Romero had a spell in Australia on loan at Melbourne Victory, scoring on his debut in March that year against Central Coast Mariners. He returned to South American football with Cerro Porteño and scored his first Copa Libertadores goals against Colón in April 2022. In January 2024, he moved on loan to Sportivo Trinidense, where he finished as the club's top scorer. That form led to a permanent transfer to Independiente Rivadavia in Argentina in July 2024, on a three-year contract.

With the Argentine club, Romero won the Copa Argentina in 2025. In June that year he returned to Sportivo Trinidense on loan, and by August had scored ten goals in 34 appearances in the Paraguayan Primera División during that spell.

At youth international level, Romero represented Paraguay at the 2017 South American U-17 Championship and the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup, and went on to add four appearances for the under-20 side in 2019.
