About the player
Gleiker Mendoza came through a string of youth clubs in Zulia state — Santa Bárbara, Cenfemaca Sports, Academia Emeritense and Llaneros de Guanare — before Angostura FC's academy picked him up. He made his senior debut there in 2021 and a loan to Deportivo Táchira in 2024 delivered the Venezuelan Primera División title.
The move that changed things came in January 2025, when he joined Kryvbas Kryvyi Rih on loan from Angostura. He settled quickly in the Ukrainian Premier League, named Player of the Round for Rounds 2, 6 and 8 of the 2025–26 season, with SportArena also naming him Player of the Round twice. Kryvbas made the deal permanent in January 2026, paying €500,000 for him, and by July that year Shakhtar Donetsk had signed him for €3.0 million.
Mendoza plays as a left winger or attacking midfielder and is comfortable with either foot. He earned his first Venezuela cap on 18 January 2025 against the United States, and by June 2026 had been capped eight times, scoring his first international goal in a friendly against Turkey.
