About the player
John Björkengren came up through Morups IF before joining Falkenbergs FF at the age of 13.
The move that changed things came in October 2020, when Lecce paid €100,000 to bring him to Serie B. He scored on his debut against Brescia Calcio and went on to make 48 league appearances for the club. A loan to Brescia in January 2023 followed, yielding 19 appearances without a goal, and when the option to make the move permanent was not taken up, he returned to Lecce.
Randers FC signed him permanently in August 2023 for €300,000, passing 70 appearances for the club on a contract that runs to 2027. At youth level, Björkengren represented Sweden twice for the under-19s and eight times for the under-21s between 2019 and 2020, though full international recognition has not followed.
