About the player
Jan Reichert did not arrive at Nürnberg through a big-money move. After coming through the youth ranks at 1. FC Schweinfurt 05, where he made his Regionalliga Bayern debut at 17 and later won the division title with the club, he joined 1. FC Nürnberg II on a free transfer in 2021. He made 84 league appearances before being promoted to the first-team squad in 2022.
His breakthrough came late and then quickly. Reichert made his 2. Bundesliga debut only on the final matchday of the 2023/24 season, but within a year he had become the club's starting goalkeeper under coach Miroslav Klose for the 2024/25 campaign.
The highlight away from club football came in June 2024, when he was invited to train with the German national team as fourth-choice goalkeeper during the Euro 2024 camp in Herzogenaurach, called up by coach Julian Nagelsmann after Alexander Nübel was left out of the final squad. He has not featured for any of Germany's youth national sides.
