About the player
In July 2025, midway through his time at GAIS, Kent Joackim Håkon Åberg changed his legal surname to Fagerjord, his mother's maiden name.
He started out at Kungsbacka IF before moving into BK Häcken's youth academy, winning the Gothia Cup with both clubs as a teenager. A return to Onsala BK followed, where he spent two seasons in Division 3 and Division 2, scoring 11 goals in 53 league appearances for the senior team.
GAIS signed him on a free transfer in December 2019, and he made his Superettan debut for the club the following June. What came next defined his career: GAIS won Ettan Södra in 2022 to reach Superettan, then finished as runners-up there in 2023 to earn promotion to Allsvenskan. He made his Allsvenskan debut in March 2024, and Fotbollskanalen described him as "lagets nav" — the team's hub — during that top-flight debut season.
Injuries have interrupted his progress more than once, with knee surgery in 2021 followed by hip operations in both 2022 and 2024. The club finished third in Allsvenskan in 2025, securing a place in the UEFA Conference League, and Åberg signed a contract extension running to the end of 2030.
